He declared that, “I am here just to tell you I am retiring from the profession but I am taking on a new role as long as I am alive”.

He has termed present status of the governance a “calamity” and stated that he would continue to fight the corrupt politicians.

Mr. Ram Jethmalani, 94, has announced his retirement from over seven-decade-long career as an Advocate

He has alleged that the NDA Govt. has “let down” the nation like the previous UPA dispensation.

While speaking at the function organised by apex bar body, the Bar Council of India, to felicitate new CJI Dipak Misra he added that,“It is the duty of members of Bar and all good citizens to rise to this great calamity”.

He is member of Rajya Sabha from Bihar and is known as one of the highest paid lawyer in Supreme Court Bar and has appeared in many leading and high profile cases like from defending the killers of Former PM Indira Gandhi, also likes of Harshad Mehta and Ketan Parekh, to opposing death sentence of the terrorist Afzal Guru.

Mr. Jethmalani was Law Minister during the BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA Govt. for a short duration of time.
