97 Year old Lawyer enrolls for MA Economics Programme just to understand ‘Why India is still Poor?’

He did Graduation from Agra University in 1938 followed by his Degree in Law in 1940.

A 97 year old, enrolled for a masters in economics here in 2015, has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records as the oldest man ever to do so.

Limca Book of Records has included the name of Raj Kumar Vaishya for enrolling himself in M.A. Economics at Nalanda Open University (NOU) in 2015.

Raj Kumar Vaishya said he enrolled nearly 1 & half years ago for M.A. Economics for 2 reasons. One to fulfill his long nurtured desire to get a Masters degree & second, to study economics to be able to understand why our country India has failed to solve problems like Poverty.

RK Vaishya, who graduated in the year 1938 and retired in 1980 as a General Manager of a private firm in Koderma (in Jharkhand), lives with the family of his 2nd son Santosh Kumar in the posh Rajendra Nagar colony for last ten years.

He said that he did his graduation from Agra University in 1938 & got a degree in law in 1940, but failed to get a Masters degree due to increasing family responsibilities & now, he’s closer to fulfill his dream.

R.K.Vaishya was born on 1st April 1920 in UP’s Bareilly town.
