‘Achey Din’ for Judiciary, 15 new High Court Justices sworn in by Chief Justice


With this induction, the sitting strength of the Madras High Court has increased from 39 to 54, against sanctioned strength of 75

Today oath of office was administered to 15 new judges of the court on the court premises by Chief Justice of Madras High Court S.K. Kaul.

This takes the sitting strength of the High Court from 39 to 54, against the total sanctioned strength of 75.

The newly inducted judges are: Justices V. Parthiban, M. Sundar, R. Suresh Kumar, J. Nisha Banu, R. Subramanian, M. Govindaraj, M.S. Ramesh, S.M. Subramaniam, and Anita Sumanth, all lawyers of the court.

Six are from the cadre of District Judge — Justices A.M. Basheer Ahamed, T. Ravindran, S. Baskaran, P. Velmurugan, G. Jayachandran, and C.V. Karthikeyan.

Newlt inducted  Justice S.M. Subramaniam also presented a copy of declaration of his assets to the Chief Justice.

President of the Madras High Court Advocates Association R.C. Paul Kanagaraj welcomed the new judges, but pointed out that the entire list recommended was not approved.
