CBI has arrested SP Tyagi former Indian Air Force (IAF) chief on the charges of corruption in the probe into the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland helicopter deal.
Apart from arrest of SP Tyagi from Delhi, his cousin Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie Tyagi and a Delhi-based lawyer, Gautam Khaitan were also arrested.
The FIR which was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation in March 2013 had names of SP Tyagi, his cousins Sanjeev, Rajiv and Sandeep and 10 others, including some European middlemen.
Nitin Gokhale , a Defence expert today said that former air chief S.P. Tyagi is not the last person to be arrested in the AgustaWestland case and that other high-profile officials, bureaucrats and politicians can also be brought under the CBI scanner.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is carrying on further probe to look for all those involved in that decision-making process.
The three are the first to be arrests by CBI after it registered a case in 2013.
