January,8,2017:
Decision is taken to ensure safety of passengers and Aircraft.
Faced with two cases of molestation back to back within a fortnight by passengers, national airline Air India has now decided to keep handcuff restrainers like plastic handcuffs.
These would now be carried on all its domestic flights to keep unruly flyers firmly seated once it is found that their behaviour endangers the safety of the aircraft or other co-flyers.
Official statement said that airline used to carry handcuffing restrainers only on international flights but as per decision it will now have them on both domestic and international flights.
Ashwani Lohani , AI chairman said that safety of passengers and aircraft is paramount to them and it will not be compromised.
This decision comes soon after a flyer on its Muscat-Delhi flight allegedly molested an airhostess on January 2.
In another incident a a co-passenger was groped bya flyer on its Mumbai-Newark flight reportedly on December 21.
Pilots adopt zero tolerance for offences like sexual harassment for airhostesses as well as flyers.
