Anti AFSPA Law Activist Irom Sharmila ends her 16 Yr. Fast, wants to be Chief Minister of Manipur

Manipuri Anti AFSPA activist Irom Sharmila today ended her 16-year-old long fast.

She was demanding the repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from the Manipur State.

It was a very emotional moment for Sharmila and she was in tears during the press conference while announcing the end of her fast.

While breaking her fast with honey she said that she will never forget this moment.

Making cleared her intention to join mainstream politics to carry on her anti AFSPA movement forward she said that she wants to become the chief minister of Manipur to improve its situation.

“I want to serve people as the CM of Manipur to help people and will do everything for a positive society and removal of the ‘draconian AFSPA law’, she said.

She is being approached by various political parties to join them, but she maintained that she want to be want to be an independent candidate.

She also took on her critics by saying that some People are negative towards her about my new decision as they want to see her only with the tube. She wish to change that,” she said.

She said that she wish to be seen just as any other human being with feelings, not as a demi-goddess.

Dispelling fear to her life she said that those who are opposed may kill her the way they killed Mahatma Gandhi.

She sent a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is indulging in violence, but we need non-violence.

Gandhi ji father of the nation is also the father of non-violence and as PM you can connect with us and govern us with fatherly affection, without any discrimination.”
