Arun Jaitley, New Law to tackle Black Money

Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, who was in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency on Saturday, said that by the end of this month more names of people with black money in foreign banks would be disclosed.

He said that in the past 10 months the Modi government took many steps to bring back black money, “which the previous government never did.”

“In the next two months a new law to bring back black money will be introduced,” he added.

In Varanasi to dedicate two steamers, two buses and an ambulance, Jaitley flayed the Opposition for putting hurdles in the land reforms bill “without any valid reason.” He said: “Congress is opposing the bill just for the sake of opposing.”

Jaitley also said that cleaning of the Ganga was on top of the Modi government’s agenda.

Replying to a query on pollution in the river, Jaitley said: “Recently a meeting of Ganga River Basin Authority was conducted… The stretch from Kanpur to Varanasi is most polluted. In the next two-three years you will witness major steps for cleaning the river.”

On the coal block auctions, he said: “Money received from auction of coal mines will be used for development of regions near the mines as they are most backward.”
