July 22,2017:
China made parts were embossed as ‘Made in Germany’.
China-made parts camouflaged as ‘Made in Germany’ found their way to production line of the indigenised Bofors guns used by Army, prompting CBI to file a case against the Delhi-based company.
Besides Sidh Sales Syndicate, CBI has also registered a case against the unidentified officials of Guns Carriage Factory (GCF), Jabalpur, under charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery for supplying the fake and cheap China-made spares passing off as Made in Germany for the Dhanush guns, states the FIR.
Dhanush is indigenised version of Bofors Artillery Guns which performed exceedingly well during Kargil conflict in the year 1999.
The CBI has also alleged that the supplier entered into Criminal Conspiracy with unidentified GCF officials to supply the duplicate spare parts (bearings) used in manufacture of Dhanush guns.
CBi further states in its FIR that,”In furtherance of said criminal conspiracy, unknown officials of the GCF accepted Chinese manufactured ‘Wire Race Roller Bearings’ supplied by the Sidh Sales Syndicate which were embossed as the ‘CRB-Made in Germany”.
The CBI added that production and the performance of Dhanush gun is extremely crucial for the India’s defence preparedness and “wire race roller bearing” is its vital component.
Company submitted ‘certificates in origin’ showing that bearings were procured from the CRB Antriebstechnik, Germany.
They were embossed with label, CRB-Made in Germany.
The GCF tests have showed that the bearings were unacceptable due to deviations in the dimensions.
Information received by CBI shows that German Company does not manufacture these parts.
It has come to light that Sidh Sales Syndicate got six bearings manufactured by the Sino United Industries (Luyang) Ltd Henan, China.
Certificate of origin from Germany was also forged.
