On Monday, Delhi HC highly anguished over the illegal constructions in National capital suggested the local authorities to consider “airlifting” of 108-foot Hanuman statue which is situated in Central Delhi to remove the encroachments around it.

Delhi High Court Bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar while taking into consideration that entire skyscrapers have been relocated completely in United States, gave the above stated suggestion while hearing the PIL by an NGO seeking removal of the unauthorized constructions and encroachments in Karol Bagh area of New Delhi.

HC Bench stated that,”Consider if statue can be airlifted. Speak to LG. You know, in US, entire skyscrapers are shifted as a whole”.

Bench further added that,”If the Civic bodies could at even one place show that the law was being enforced, mindset of people of Delhi would change”.

The matter came up before Bench as local authorities were seeking a modification with regard to Police Station which would be responsible for implementing High Court’s November 15 direction to remove the encroachments from the area.

High Court has listed the matter for the hearing on November 24,2017.
