September 22,2017:
Another 338 Government Doctors were found to be on long, unauthorised Leave.
Coming down hard on the absenteeism, Directorate of the Medical and Rural Health Services dismissed the three Govt. doctors after they stayed away from the duty for a number of years.
This could only be a tip of iceberg stated the Sources, adding that 338 government doctors, including the Chief Surgeons and the Assistant surgeons, were found to have been on the long, unauthorised leave.
This absence without the leave comes at a time when Govt. Hospitals in State are battling a serious manpower shortage.
According to the Official Source, most of these doctors were active in the private practice that earned them substantial income, over and above benefits they received from Government.
The officials who have taken action against the doctors stated that,“Within two months, we have removed three doctors from the service. A probe is on about charges against the other. If proven, they too will face action depending on nature of complaint”.
Official further added that, “Department would issue the notices, directing doctors to attend duty within a stipulated time. If they fail even after warning, we remove them from the service”.
