High Court: Triple Talaq is unconstitutional, Constitution is supreme and above all Personal Laws, Read Order

Practice of triple talaq is cruel and demeaning, said High Court.

High Court of Allahabad has today said that the practice of Triple Talaq among Muslims is not only unconstitutional but also violates the rights of women.

High court said that Constitution is supreme and no personal law board is above it.

It was ruled that that Triple talaq is unconstitutional as it violates the rights of Muslim women.

No personal law board is above the Constitution, HC ruled.

Second wife of a Muslim Man was seeking protection against police action in the matter.

The court refrained from giving its finding on the legality of triple talaq saying that the Supreme Court is seized of matter.

It said that that the practice of triple talaq is cruel and demeaning.
