IPS officer who was Awarded President’s Police Medal, now sacked for “non-performance”

August 10, 2017

He has now written to Union Home Ministry and State Government seeking reasons behind his sacking.

Police Officer removed

A Chhattisgarh IPS officer-Kailash Chandra Agrawal, who was sacked a just few days ago for “non-performance” of his duties, was a winner of the President’s Police Medal for meritorious services.

K. C. Agrawal, who’s a member of the state police service, also got “timely promotions” & was made the deputy inspector general of the Police in January 2016.

Along with him, Union home ministry sacked another IPS officer A M Juri.

A review committee of the state which included the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police & some senior officials, found Agarwal “no longer productive or useful” following which the home ministry dismissed him after obtaining the approval of the Cabinet Appointment Committee.

Although he’s not useful any longer, the Chhattisgarh home dept. had in 2010, after evaluation of his performance, recommended him for the ‘President’s Medal’ for ‘Meritorious service’.

Agrawal told media “I just got a two line official communication which cited my removal from the service in ‘public interest’, no specific reason was given. I’ve never faced any departmental inquiry/any probe so far in my career. Rather, I have always gotten timely promotions & a recognition for my meritorious services.”

When he was asked about allegations that he offered protection to the Coal mafia during his tenure as Surajpur superintendent of police in year 2005; he said: “It is (the allegation) absolutely baseless & a creation of the media.”
