Justice C S Karnan served with SC issued Bailable Arrest Warrant by WB Director General of Police

Justice Karnan had threatened to order for withdrawl of Powers of 7 SC Judges.

Surajit Kar Purakayastha, West Bengal Director General of Police, today served a bailable warrant to Justice CS Karnan of Calcutta HC which was issued by the Apex Court in a contempt case on 10th March .

The DGP visited residence of Justice CS Karnan in New Town area here along with the Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar & DIG (CID) Rajesh Kumar and handed over to him the warrant.

A large police team was posted outside CS Karnan’s residence when the 3 senior police officials visited his place.

The SC had issued the arrest warrant against Justice CS Karnan to ensure his presence before it on 31st March in a contempt case.

Hitting back at the Supreme Court of Indian, Justice Karnan had stated that they’ve “no locus standi” to issue bailable warrant against any sitting judge & also alleged that he’s being targeted for being a Dalit.

Justice CS Karnan also issued an order of registration of a case under the Schedule Caste & Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 against Chief Justice of India Justice JS Khehar & 6 other judges.
