Country’s legal history just saw another unprecedented incident as Justice C S Karnan of the Calcutta High Court said yesterday that he has passed an order directing Chief Justice of India J S Khehar along with six other judges of the Supreme Court to personally appear before him at his Home Court in Kolkata on April 28.

As per Justice Karnan the charge against them is that they had earlier initiated contempt proceedings against him and summoned him to appear before them on March 31.

The above seven-judge Constitutional Bench had also issued a bailable warrants of arrest against Justice Karnan.

According to order passed by Justice Karnan “The Hon’ble seven judges as mentioned above will appear before me at my Rosedale Residential Court on 28.04.2017 at 11.30am and address their views qua quantum of punishment for the violation of the SC ST Act (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Act).”

This ‘suo motu judicial order’ happened to be passed from his residence at Rosedale, New Town, Kolkata – 700160″.

Justice Karnan told media that the seven judges comprising the Constitution  bench had initiated contempt proceedings against him only to insult him with “wantonly and deliberately and mala fide intention”.

Justice Karnan has stated that on March 31 he had himself signed and pronounced a judgement accusing seven judges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Act, 1989.

He mentioned that the CJI and six other judges in the bench had raised a question regarding his mental health in the the open apex court on March 31 whereby they had insulted him.

This ugly tussle had started after Justice Karnan had wrote letters to the CJI and Prime Minister, alleging that seven high court judges were corrupt. Supreme Court thereafter initiated contempt proceedings against him.
