Promote use of solar energy & electric vehicles to check pollution.
On Monday, the Supreme Court sought response from the Union govt. & the govts of UP, Haryana & Punjab on a plea seeking to curb rising pollution in Delhi & National Capital Region (NCR).
A Bench, comprising CJI Dipak Misra & Justice AM Khanwilkar & Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, said that there won’t be any stay on matters pertaining to pollution that’re going on before any other Court.
The top court issued notice to the Centre & the State govts. concerned on the plea, which also sought a direction to promote use of solar energy & electric vehicles to check pollution.
The plea, filed by lawyer RK Kapoor, has claimed that rise in dust particles on roads & stubble burning in Haryana & Punjab have led to an alarming rise in pollution levels in the NCR & adjoining areas.
The plea sought directions to the Centre & the States to take steps to curb road dust & stubble burning. It also sought effective implementation of the odd-even car rationing scheme.
