Hostel students came to the police station and demanded the release of the boys.
Three law college students, who were riding a motorbike together on a wrong route and stopped by the traffic police, allegedly attacked a police official on Wednesday evening.
Consequently heavy police protection was provided at the Dr Ambedkar Government Law College hostel.
Police said that three law college students – Dhilipan, Siva Sakthi and Chinna Goundar – residing in the college hostel were riding a motorbike together near Purasavakkam on the way to the supermarket when they were caught by the traffic police. “The students were travelling along the wrong route and hence stopped.
They got into a verbal altercation with the police, when the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aynavaram, D Shankaran, was on his rounds when he spotted the boys arguing with the cops. While he was talking to the students, one of them picked up a stone and threw it at the official.” said a police source.
Following this, two of the three students were nabbed by the police and the other hostel students came to the police station, demanding the release of the boys.
As a precautionary measure against a possible protest, heavy police protection was deployed at the law college hostel. A case has been registered by the police and four people have been detained and further investigations are on.
