Mayhem post Godman’s conviction in Rape Case leaves High Court fuming, Dera properties attached

High Court has directed Haryana Government to use weapon or force to tackle the situation.

On Friday, Special CBI Court has convicted the Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the rape case.

Verdict was pronounced amidst the unprecedented security cover, over the 15 years after an anonymous sexual exploitation complaint was registered against him.

Quantum of the sentence, which could range from the seven years to a life term, will be pronounced on August 28,2017.

Dera Chief has been taken into the custody.

The Haryana Police and the Para-Military Forces tried to evict more than the 1.5 lakh Dera followers gathered at various places in the Panchkula through intervening night of Thursday and Friday but were unsuccessful.

The Violence broke out, as expected after the verdict was announced, and there has been a complete breakdown of law and order.

Haryana DGP BS Sandhu has stated that the 20 columns of the Army had been requisitioned and they had staged a flag march today morning.

Punjab and Haryana HC has directed the officers of the Haryana Govt. to use weapon or force if required to tackle situation arising out of CBI Court verdict in Rape Case against Dera Sacha Sauda sect head.

Full Bench of High Court ordered that no political leader, including the Minister, will interfere in working of the officers in handling situation arising out of verdict.

High Court will hold special sitting tomorrow to take stock of the situation. HC has ordered that list of Dera Properties be filed so that the same can be attached and sold for reimbursing the losscaused to Public and Private properties.

Court has directed that no political, social or religious leader will issue any provocative statement.
