Modi Govt. informs Parliament: 165 charged under Sedition in last Three Years

Sedition Law being misused

Government informed the Parliament on Wednesday that the 165 people had been arrested on charge of sedition in last three years across the country.

Citing data from National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Minister of the State for Home Gangaram Ahir stated that,”58 people were arrested in the 47 such cases registered in 2014.

73 people were arrested in the 30 cases registered in the year 2015 and 34 people arrested in the 28 cases registered in the year 2016.

2016 figure excludes the State UP and the West Bengal as the data from these two states were not available.
