National Green Tribunal, NGT refuses to hear a Petition presented to it in Hindi

Bench said all the applications moved in Hindi would stand dismissed.

National Green Tribunal while prohibiting use of Hindi language before it, made it clear that a litigant, who appears before it as a party-in-person, must also submit the documents in English language only.

National Green Tribunal stated that According to the Rule 33 of the NGT (Practice and Procedure) Rules, 2011, the proceedings of Tribunal have to be conducted only in English.

NGT was hearing the review plea filed by Ojasvi Party which seeked restoration of its earlier petition which was dismissed by NGT for not submitting the English translation of the documents.

NGT Bench taking into consideration the submissions and records stated that English version of the Original Appeal was filed on September,24,2015,thus the the application was allowed and the restored to the file.

NGT Bench headed by Justice U D Salvi expounded that, “All the applications which have been moved therein in Hindi and without there being its English translation on record would stand dismissed”.
