Apex Court Bench remarked that CBI officials should have been more diligent while discharging their duties and stated that officials should have read nameplate to ascertain which house they were raiding.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has tendered an unconditional apology to Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Vineet Saran and Justice CR Dash.
CBI’s apology came in connection with incident that took place in September, when CBI mistakenly tried to raid house of sitting the High Court Judge Justice CR Dash.
Bureau’s gaffe raised a lot of questions on way its officials function while discharging their duties.
CBI had on September 19, tired to raid Justice Dash’s house under the mistake that was house of the Former High Court Judge Justice I.M Qudussi, against whom a corruption case had been registered.
When CBI officials realized that that they had arrived at residence of wrong person, the officials exited premises.
In November, CBI had apprised Supreme Court that it was eager to tender an apology to Justice Dash.
ASG Tushar Mehta while appearing on behalf of CBI stated that an affidavit in regard to apology tendered will be filed within a week.
Case will now be heard in January,2018.
