June,12,2017:
On Monday, Supreme Court ordered that results of 2017 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) be declared by June 26,2017 thereby overruling a stay by the Madras High Court.
Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts the NEET, stated that it will declare NEET results by June 26,2017 as per SC order. The results were originally scheduled to be released on June 8,2017.
Madras HC had on May 24,2017 stayed declaration of the results on finding that while NEET question papers for nearly 10.5 lakh students who took examination in languages like English and Hindi were same, but were different for those who appeared for the test in eight other vernacular languages.
CBSE has submitted that it decided to make question papers different for other languages other than English and Hindi to ensure that in the event of any leaks, it would not have to cancel the entire examination.
Apex Court has also directed all the High Courts not to entertain any petition in relation to 2017 NEET.
