BJP ruled State of Haryana has requested Modi Govt. to fix minimum Education qualification for MPs and MLAs.
Haryana CM Manohar Khattar has stated that,”Govt. has written to Centre to fix the minimum qualification for the MP’s and MLA’s for contesting the elections”.
State Govt’s earlier decision to fix minimum qualification of the panchayat representatives had received widespread praise.
According to an Official,”Our decision to fix minimum educational qualification of the panchayat representatives for contesting the elections was upheld by Court”.
In September,2015, the Haryana Assembly had passed a bill, fixing minimum educational qualification for contesting the elections to the Panchayati Raj institutions, besides laying down the other conditions including making it mandatory for candidates to have functional toilets.
State Assembly passed another Bill in 2016, mandating same rules for those contesting the Urban Local Body polls.
CM Khattar stated that State’s sex ratio has now reached 937 girls per 1,000 boys, which was around 850 girls per 1,000 boys earlier.
