Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Shiksha Parishad (UP Madarsa Education Council), State Government body, has issued a circular mandating all madrasas affiliated to it across State to celebrate 70th Independence Day by hoisting tri-colour and singing National anthem and National song.

Order, comprising a detailed time schedule of events also makes the videography and photography mandatory failing which the action may be initiated against the erring institutions.

Moreover, institutions will have to organise a host of cultural activities as well on the occasion.

As per circular, Madrasas will have to send the video clips and photos of programme to Parishad as evidence of the compliance with order and also to preserve impressive work as a template for the future.

Baldev Olakh, Minister of State for Minority Welfare justified order stating that it was necessary to inculcate a sense of pride and honour for National Anthem and song among the students.

Circular states that the flag hoisting and programme will commence at 8 am. Following this, tributes will be paid to the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle. Students will sing songs on the nationalism and will be told about history of freedom struggle.

While some of the Muslim clerics and Maulvis agreed to comply with it, others have expressed concern.
